There are many questions one asks themselves when it comes to window replacement. What are the best types of windows to have in a home with small children? What is tempered glass and what can it do for my family’s safety? Whether you are thinking about building a new home or renovating your current residence, there is a lot to think about!

Do you live in a neighborhood with lots of small children who play sports outdoors? If so, you should consider ordering your windows with tempered safety glass. Tempered safety glass is a lot like a car windshield. The glass will break but not into sharp pieces which is much safer for you and your family. So the next time that stray baseball hits your window, you and your family can rest assured knowing that no one will be hurt.

When opening your windows for ventilation only open windows that young children cannot reach. Our Simonton windows offer ventilation locks that allow for the window to be opened only a few inches which will prevent accidents with young children. Remember opening windows on the second floor can be dangerous when young children are present. If you have a two story home consider ordering double hung windows for the second story. Double hung windows can open from both the top and bottom. On the second story we recommend opening only the top sash for ventilation.
Also please keep in mind that screens are meant to keep the bugs outside, not your children inside. They will not in any situation support the weight of a child or family pet.
