Here at FAS Windows and Doors we are proud supporters of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida. The Ronald McDonald house has helped numerous families here in Central Florida as well as across the world!

Many may not know how the Ronald McDonald House got its start so we would like to share with you the history of the Ronald McDonald House Charity. In 1974 when Philadelphia Eagles Fred Hill’s three year old daughter was sick with leukemia the Hill family spent many nights sleeping on hospitals benches and chairs. The Hill’s were not alone as they watched many other families in the same situation. Mr. Hill along with his teammates, coach and general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles raised money to support the efforts of Dr. Audrey Evans. Evans was head of pediatric oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Eagles General Manager along with the help of Don Tuckerman local marketing for McDonalds as well as Ed Ransi regional manager created the Shamrock Shake promotion. Funds that were raised from the promotion helped buy an old house near the hospital and provided families a place to rest while their children were receiving treatments at the hospital.

In 1974 the first Ronald McDonald House was opened and in 2010 the 300th home opened its doors. Here in Orlando we have two Ronald McDonald houses which are located on Alden Rd. as well as Kuhl Ave. If you or someone you know may want to help this wonderful organization you can visit their website at http://www.rmhccf.org/index.shtml.
