How Does an Independent Business Survive Against The Big Box Stores?

FAS recently hosted a visit from the University of Florida’s Center for Retailing Education and Research. This program is 4 days consisting of morning classroom sessions on retail trends, retail strategy, developments in distribution and logistics and creating a “retail experience’ and afternoon business tours. There were 23 Brazilians in the group, mainly owners, managers and executives from small-to-medium size retailers located in Brazil. FAS was one of the business chosen to tour because of its family owned independent roots. Ernie Wilding took the time to talk to the group about the business and how FAS survives against the big box stores in this very competitive environment. There was a lot of great information to gain and we thank the Executive Director, Steven Kirn from the University of Florida for choosing FAS. We had a great day meeting the group and sharing!
