The tax credit amount is 10% of the cost without installation costs; windows are capped at $200 while doors are at $500. It will not apply to new construction, only your “principal home“, which is the home you own or reside in.

Between January 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2011, only products with the Energy Star label will be qualified for the tax credit. Unlike last year, the determining factors were the U-factor Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). No worries for you, however.
