Greenovation Evaluation: The Energy Detectives Part 1Dr. Anna Marie, health specialist for The Weather Channel and host of the nationally-syndicated Your Life with Dr. Anna Marie television show, turned to FAS Windows & Doors to install more than two dozen energy-efficient Simonton windows and patio doors in the green practices and products demonstration home.
“This project is all about transforming an old home into an eco-friendly, energy efficient and healthy home,” says Dr. Anna Marie. “As soon as the FAS Windows & Doors team installed the replacement vinyl windows I noticed a dramatic change. The sound reduction from the exterior into the home was amazing. And, even under construction with holes in the house everywhere, there was a noticeable drop in the interior temperature during the heat of the day. The energy efficiency features started working the minute these windows were installed!” To get this result, FAS offers three Simonton ETC glass package options that are available on select products and styles: The ETC Starter 366 glass package, The ETC Super Solar glass package and the ETC Super 366 glass package. On Simonton’s Stormbreaker Plus products, FAS offers two Simonton ETC glass packages: ETC Super Solar SBP includes a one-inch IGU, Super Spacer system, Argon gas fill, and Low E glass, along with impact-resistant glass. The ETC Super 366 SBP glass packages features a one-inch IGU, Super Spacer system, Argon gas fill and LoE³-366 glass, along with impact-resistant glass.
Simonton Windows - (Greenovation) FilmingWith John Wilding's guidance, the team of eight experienced installers completed the project in just two days. He went on to say “We’re especially pleased to be associated with this project because it showcases the immediate advantages to homeowners of installing energy efficient windows and doors. The Simonton products selected for this project are ENERGY STAR® qualified and feature the company’s Energy Tax Credit (ETC) glass package, so that the homeowner can gain up to $1,500 tax credit this year on the cost of the windows.”
The 3,000-square-foot Greenovation home was showcased at the Lake County Florida Builder Association’s Parade of Homes in March of 2010. The project is currently featured on and on the Your Life with Dr. Anna Marie show. To find out more information on Greenovation, click here. To view the gallery of the project, click here.
