Florida Hurricane Windows: Design Pressure Ratings

Thursday, April 26, 2012
AW13June marks the beginning of a new hurricane season. Are you prepared? Design Pressure ratings for windows makes sure your custom windows will stand up high force winds.

FAS Windows & Doors has three processes in place to ensure the replacement windows you choose will keep your family safe in event of a hurricane. In most areas in Florida, the minimum DP rating for hurricane windows is 35, but it can be higher in high velocity hurricane zones.
  • Sales representatives carry laptops and use manufacturer specifications to verify proper DP ratings.
  • FAS Windows & Doors has a purchasing department to process all orders and double check the DP ratings by municipality for code requirements before the product is ordered.
  • FAS Windows & Doors uses permits on all jobs.
Permits are the final check by the county verifying the correct windows will be installed. If a permit is not used, the home owner will run the risk of having to replace the product in accordance to building codes at a future date.
Have more questions about DP ratings and permits? Our team is here to answer any questions you may have. Visit our Tampa or Orlando showroom , or call today to schedule a free, no-obligation home consultation.

Martin Gage says:

It's always a risk to do small fixings even if the windows require much more than that.
