Wood-Clad Windows

Like the look of wood framed windows but want something a little easier to maintain? Wood clad windows are your answer.

What are wood clad windows? They are traditional wood framed windows with a material such as vinyl which covers the wood on the exterior side to reduce external maintenance. Normally the “cladding” is vinyl or aluminum; however other metals such as bronze, copper or zinc and be used, but add a considerable amount of cost to the windows.

Advantages of Wood Clad Windows

As a rule, vinyl external cladding comes in a variety of stock colors. Covering both the sash and the frame of the window, the cladding can keep the exterior of your windows maintenance free for years. With vinyl cladding the color permeates the material, meaning scratches won’t show. With aluminum scratches may show but it is generally more durable and since it is easy to paint, your have a wider color selection.

From Our Customers

I asked FAS along with three other window manufacturers for a quote. FAS had a good quote and good reputation so I decided to go with them. I got their Simonton windows and customized the order. Their sales rep was very knowledgeable, went step-by-step, had a sample window that he brought in, and he was pretty detailed. They had somebody come out and do an in-depth measurement to make sure everything would be perfect. The installation was done by two guys and they did a good job. They were very clean, picked up after themselves and made sure that we were happy before they left. The overall quality of the windows is good and I like them.
