Energy Efficiency

Simonton Grand Room Windows
Simonton Windows understands that energy efficiency is more important than ever.  That's why they are continuously looking for ways to make their windows and doors as thermally efficient as possible.  From the materials they use to the glass packages they offer, their dedication as an ENERGY STAR partner is quite apparent.

Premium Vinyl

The premium vinyl used in Simonton Windows is an excellent insulator.  Its thermal properties are far superior to aluminum, steel and stainless steel.

Spacer Systems

Most Simonton Windows feature unique spacer systems.  Made of highly thermally prohibitive materials, these are placed between the glass panes and further reduce temperature transfer.

Intercept Spacer System

Simonton Intercept Spacers

  • Unique U-Channel design minimizes conduction for increased efficiency and comfort
  • Durable long-lasting design
  • U-shaped design flexes and contracts, reducing seal failure in the insulating glass unit

Super Spacer System

Simonton Super Spacer System
  • Solid silicone foam provides superior energy efficiency
  • Does not conduct energy as quickly as metal spacers
  • Silicone foam is flexible and helps reduce stress cracks

 Glass Coatings

Many Simonton Windows are available with Low E glass.  A transparent metallic oxide coating applied to the glass surface allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency.

Gas Fill

The space inside an insulating glass unit - between the glass panes - may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air.  This acts as an added barrier for a higher level of efficiency.

Laminated Glass

Some glass packages contain laminated glass.  A transparent interlayer is adhered to a pane of glass, acting as a barrier against energy loss, noise transmission and forced entry.

From Our Customers

We had a bad experience with a previous door installer/retailer. Then we heard good things on the radio about FAS so we went to see them in their warehouse and we were impressed with both the product and the people. We bought two sets of French doors and had them installed. We were also able to customize our lock and glass selection, as well as the decorative treatment of the doors and it worked very well. Their sales rep was very personable. He called in response to our call to set up a time and he arrived on time. He was very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic, and we very much enjoyed the opportunity to talk to him. He was certainly the first contact in our home that helped convince us to try them out.

Their installation team was very good and very professional. They came out, measured, and they showed up with the doors and the doors fit, which was nice. They had the materials they needed and they cleaned up afterwards. All in all, we were very pleased with the experience. They did a great job. FAS has a higher price but there was great value. Their quality’s terrific. They did a great follow-up as well, after the work was done. They called and verified if we were satisfied with the work, up to the permit inspection. They took care of taking off the labels and so forth, which were required to be let down for the permit.
