The durable aluminum frames and sash feature an attractive

design of these windows and doors includes features such as double
weather-stripping and interlocking meeting rails to keep wind and water
out—air conditioning and heating in.
Increase Your Energy Efficiency
Glass options that reduce solar heat gain can
provide significant savings on energy bills. For instance, double-paned
insulated glass offers excellent U-value and reduces sound when compared to
ordinary single-pane glass. And our standard insulated glass is covered by a
10-year warranty. PGT® also offers
heat-reducing tints and high-performance Low-E®
coatings that reduce solar heat gain while protecting your furnishings,
draperies and artwork from fading.
In considering glass options, it's valuable to
compare how various options affect solar heat gain and visible light
transmittance. Reducing solar heat gain can save on air conditioning bills.
Reducing visible light transmittance that is the brightness of the daylight
entering a home that may or may not be a desired effect.
U-Value
When a home is primarily heated, the
U-Value (heat flow out of the home) is the correct rating to inquire about.
The smaller the number, the better.
Solar Heat Gain
When a home is primarily air-conditioned, the Solar
Heat Gain value (heat flow into the home) is the correct rating to inquire
about. The smaller the number, the better.
Visible Light Transmittance
It is the percentage of light that passes
through a window. The higher the number, the brighter.
UV Light Transmittance
is the percentage of invisible, harmful
ultraviolet light that passes through a window. The lower the number, the
better.
